Faulkner Hosptial Addition Under Review
The proposed addition to Brigham & Women's Faulkner Hospital is now under review with the organization filing a PNF earlier this week. The project calls for a 5-story, 98,000-square-foot Inpatient Addition next to and south of the hospital's main entrance, which will include 78 new inpatient beds as well as clinical support and ambulatory space. Plans would also add three levels onto the existing East Parking Garage to include 171 new spaces. The West parking garage would also be replaced with a new structure adding another 332 parking spaces.

LOI Filed for Addition to Faulkner Hospital
Brigham & Women's Faulkner Hospital has filed a Letter of Intent to build a 5-story, 98,000 square foot addition to the south of the hospital's main entrance. The Inpatient building would feature 78 new beds as well as clinical support and ambulatory space. The addition would represent the hospital's first development since 1995 and the first new inpatient building since 1976.

Approval of Shawmut Avenue/Washington Street Block in South End to create 536 residential unitsThe Shawmut Avenue/Washington Street Block project will include three new buildings and represents a collaborative effort between the developer and two Chinatown community organizations, the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association of New England (CCBA) and Boston Chinese Evangelical Church (BCEC).The first building, 112 Shawmut Avenue, will be a maximum of 13 stories and consist of 139 residential units, associated residential amenity spaces, and a three-level enclosed garage containing 110 parking spaces, as well as related site and landscape improvements.The second building, 120 Shawmut Avenue, will include the expansion of the BCEC building to consolidate BCEC’s services onto one site. The improvements at 120 Shawmut Avenue will consist of either the demolition of a portion of the existing facility and the construction of a vertical addition, or the new construction of up to a 12-story structure to house two religious sanctuaries with combined seating for 1,130 people, a gymnasium, fitness rooms, offices, classrooms and meeting spaces for religious education, recreational and social services uses, a small ground floor commercial space, and 84 residential units on the upper floors of the building.The third building, 50 Herald Street, is currently owned by the CCBA. The 50 Herald Street building will be nine stories and set back at the corner of Herald and Washington Streets, rising to 14 stories further south along Washington Street. The building will contain 313 residential units with ground floor retail, commercial, cultural, and/or community space along Washington Street. In addition, there will be an underground garage with 120 parking spaces.

Flour Prepares For September OpeningThe 8th Flour location plans to open this September in Boston's Innovation and Design Building. Permitting includes a change of occupancy to include commissary kitchen with an interior fit-out of a new commercial kitchen in accordance with plans filed. Additional work includes new flooring, ceilings, kitchen equipment, and new MEP equipment.Flour was founded in 2000 by Joanne Chang and has become Boston's most popular bakery and cafe. Exchange South End Awaits ApprovalWith the Exchange South End proposal under board review, the $600 million commercial development is still aiming to begin construction in the fall of 2018. The development would transform 5.6 acres of South End real estate into a massive mixed-use opportunity for the neighborhood.The nearly 1.6 million square foot project would include four new buildings featuring approximately 1,481,350 square feet of commercial, technology, and life science research space with 42,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space and 30,000 square feet of civic and incubator space oriented about a new public park.Over one acre of new pedestrian-friendly public open space, known as Albany Green, would be constructed on site. Exchange South End would host 4,000 to 7,000 new jobs, and represent a total investment of over $1 billion in the South End neighborhood.
