2,000+ Units Planned to Replace Aging Silver Spring Multifamily Complex
Grady Management is planning a massive redevelopment of the Americana Glenmont Forest Apartments in Silver Spring MD. The site is currently developed with 19 garden-style apartment buildings constructed in the 1960s featuring 482 units. Grady proposes to rezone the property to allow for up to 2,275 residential dwelling units with 5,000 square feet of neighborhood-serving commercial use. The development would be constructed in 9 phases and include 342 affordable units.
Per planning documents, the multi-family buildings have been strategically arranged to create a sense of community and encourage pedestrian activity with the project is broken down into smaller blocks by a series of internal private streets to promote connectivity within the site and to the surrounding areas. Plans also include a 1.0-acre Neighborhood Green that will provide diverse opportunities for the public to gather, socialize and connect with nature.
