200+ Unit Chelsea Veterans' Home Redevelopment Takes Step Forward
The Chelsea Planning Board has granted conditional approval for the special permit to redevelop the Veterans’ Home in Chelsea. The Zoning Board of Appeals will vote on the recommendation later this month. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts selected Pennrose to redevelop the 8.7-acre site to create independent, veterans’ preference housing and supportive services. The multi-phased project will include 241 units of mixed-income housing with supportive services tailored to Veterans and their families. Construction activities are not expected to begin before the second half of 2024.
