237 Senior Living Project Planned in Silver Spring

Enterprise Community Development & Seabury Resources for Aging have filed plans for the redevelopment of Seabury at Springvale Terrace. The existing building, constructed in 1960, currently provides 146 affordable, Assisted Living and Independent Living units. Given the age of the existing building and its configuration, the existing facilities are in need of substantial repair. The vast majority of the living suites are small studio apartments that lack full kitchens and as such, the building is difficult to market. For all these reasons, the existing community is functionally obsolete and does not meet the needs of today’s seniors.

The development team now plans a 5-story building to include up to 237 Independent Living units that will serve residents 62 years of age and older. The project also provides a large, approximately 10,000 square-foot natural park along Wayne Avenue that includes lush plantings and a rain garden, which will provide a natural setting to promote more contemplative public space.
