45 Units Under Review for Anacostia Site
Plans are under review for the adaptive reuse of an existing two-story commercial building and adjacent empty lot at 2420 MLK Jr. Ave., SE. The proposed project includes 45 apartments, a mix of 1 & 2 bedrooms, as well as a single 1,500 SF retail area, which will be prioritized for Ward 8 small businesses or organizations. The ground floor retail entrance and facade of the contributing historic structure on MLK Jr. St. SE will remain with limited intervention to celebrate the unique historic essence of the property, while the addition and adjacent residential portion of the site are designed to complement the existing streetscape and enhance the vitality of the Anacostia Historic District.
