5 World Trade Center Update 10/27/23

5 World Trade Center Ready to Rise

Recently approved back in July, it's only a matter of time now before construction begins on 5 World Trade Center; an 80-story, mixed-use skyscraper, coming as the final component of the World Trade Center complex in Manhattan's Financial District.

Developed by Brookfield Properties and Silverstein Properties for The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the long-awaited tower is set to contain apartments. Approximately 400 units are to be dedicated to affordable housing, and 80 units will be offered to survivors (and family members) of the 9/11 attacks.

Plans also call for square feet of office space, square feet of retail space, and 10,000 square feet of community facility space for the Educational Alliance.

To be constructed next to the recently completed, St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine, it will have direct access to Liberty Park.

Designed by , the structure is set to stand feet tall and will total approximately square feet.

5 World Trade Center will sit on the former site of the Deutsche Bank building, which was heavily damaged on 9/11 and ultimately demolished in 2011. The new tower will be the only residential building in the WTC complex. It's still unclear when construction will commence, but demolition of the parking lot that currently occupies the site could realistically begin any day now, if not before the end of the year.
