680 Units Proposed for Loehmann’s Plaza Redevelopment in Rockville
A Sketch Plan is under review for the redevelopment of Loehmann’s Plaza along Randolph Road in Rockville. The development team proposes to replace the existing shopping center through a staged project with a mix of up to 680 residential units and 40,000 square feet of commercial space. Given the current retail occupancy in the center, it is important for the project team to stage redevelopment of the property. The redevelopment will begin with the eastern portion of the property where the retail space currently is vacant. This area will consist of back-to-back townhomes designed to serve missing middle housing demands in the area. As part of the first phase, the developer also anticipates locating a grocery store of approximately 23,000 square feet in the central part of the existing retail building.
