800+ Units Planned for Martin's View Redevelopment
Plans are under view for redevelopment of Martin's View apartments along MLK Jr. Ave. SW & Elmira Street SW. The 4.9-acre site is currently home to 4, 2-3 story apartment buildings containing a total of 156 apartments constructed in the 1940s. The project team proposes to raze all four existing apartment buildings in phases and construct each new apartment building to accommodate current and future residents with updated units and amenities. Plans call for a total of approximately 821 residential units with 276 underground parking spaces. At least 17% of the new units will be affordable (at 60% MFI and 50% MFI), and at least 8% of the new units will be family-sized three-bedroom units. The primary design and placemaking objective of the project is to create new housing for current and new residents in modern, highly-amenities buildings that highlight neighboring Fort Greble Park.
