110 Savin Hill Avenue Update 09/19/16

Developer will construct mixed-use project at long-vacant Savin Hill site

The Dorchester Reporter reports that developers James Baker and John C. McDonough will propose a mixed-use project at the long-vacant 102-110 Savin Hill Avenue, located across from the Savin Hill MBTA station. The developers purchased the property, home to a boarded single-story retail building, for $850,000 in July 2016. In an interview with the Dorchester Reporter, Baker explained that a mixed-use structure with ground-floor retail space and residences above will be proposed. “We definitely want to do some kind of retail market for the community,” said Baker. Baker hopes to present preliminary designs for the project to the community this fall and anticipates it will take 9 to 12 months for permitting to commence. The City of Boston's inspectional services will reportedly work with Baker and McDonough to assess the existing building's structural integrity.
