Brooklyn DOT Operations Facility Nears Approval

The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) and co-applicant, the New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) are requesting a site selection and acquisition of a private property at 101 Varick Avenue in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The 142,000 sqft lot is home to a 76,000 sqft warehouse with an attached office building. If acquired, the building would contain new DOT Sidewalk Inspection and Management Citywide Concrete Field Operations facilities. A new Traffic Operations and Street Light facility would also find a home in the warehouse. The DOT's request has been in public review since earlier this year and has already been approved by the Community Board, Borough President, City Planning Commission, and City Council. Now in the hands of the NYC Mayor's Office, the mayor will have just 5 days to give the request a final stamp of approval.
