Construction Progressing for 40 Thorndike Redevelopment
Construction is progressing for the redevelopment of the former Sullivan Courthouse at 40 Thorndike St. in East Cambridge. On the exterior of the project, terracotta is being installed on all elevations with the east elevation curtain wall now complete. On the interior of the 20-story tower, elevators are being installed and work is ongoing for the new MEP systems. When complete 40 Thorndike will offer 48 affordable apartments and over 400,000 square feet of office/R&D space. The ground level of the site will evolve from its former Brutalist design into a thoughtful series of activated storefronts and intimate public landscaped space.
