Construction Underway at The Central, Formerly Orange Station, in Downton St. Petersburg

The groundbreaking was held and construction has begun at The Central, formerly Orange Station, a new mixed-use development in The Edge District of downtown St. Petersburg. Located on the site of the former St. Petersburg police headquarters, The Central will feature a 12-story 125,000 square foot Class A office building, the first newly constructed Class A office space in downtown St. Petersburg since the 1980’s. In addition, the development will include a 15-story Autograph Collection by Marriott hotel that will offer meeting space, event space and will include a state-of-the-art fitness center, multi-level theater and rooftop pool. Plans also include 42-unit workforce housing apartment building which will be called The Wye, 14,000 square feet of retail space fronting Central Avenue and 1st Avenue North and a parking garage. A public plaza on the eastern side of the project, intended as a community gathering space, will include café’s and shopping.
