DNI Designates DBEDC and DVM Consulting as Co-Developers of Dudley Miller Park/Our Tierra Livri Parcel

Dudley Neighbors Incorporated (DNI) and Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative (DSNI) voted last week to designate Dorchester Bay EDC and DVM Consulting Corp. as co-developers of the Dudley Miller Park/Our Tierra Livri parcel at 483-487 Dudley Street.

DBEDC and DVM have proposed a four-story mixed-use commercial/retail and multifamily housing development, with 18 new affordable homeownership condominium units and approximately 2,900 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. The DNI community land trust will be the longterm owner of the land.

The 18 new homeownership units will be available for purchase by local, first-time homebuyers, facilitating the opportunity for intergenerational wealth building and stability for local residents. The commercial portion of the project will be developed in partnership with other community-based organizations as thought-partners. The commercial space will strengthen the identity of Dudley Corridor as a business district and create small business development opportunities for local entrepreneurs of color.

The building will be sustainably constructed, with a goal of zero net energy and energy efficient healing/cooling systems. The design and development of the project will be women and minority-led. Design will be conducted by CoEverything and JGE Architecture + Design.

“Our collective goal is to leverage development at Dudley Street to prevent displacement and promote economic opportunity for local residents and entrepreneurs,” said Dorchester Bay EDC CEO Kimberly R. Lyle. “We will achieve this goal by facilitating community ownership of the future commercial space and promoting locally rooted, first-time homeownership to enhance the vibrancy of the Dudley business district and set a standard for future neighborhood development with a new sustainably-constructed building.”

The DVM/DBEDC development team is led 100% by people of color, and almost entirely by women of color and Boston natives. Each member of the team has been the beneficiary of opportunity and seeks out qualified individuals and businesses of color with talent and ambition looking for the chance to make an impact. Collectively, DVM/DBEDC represent a new era of leadership with the lived experience, connection to community, and integrity to translate community vision into reality.

Construction on Our Tierra Livri is projected to begin in late 2025.
