Elmhurst Charter School Wades Through Public Review
Sunshine Elmhurst LLC's application for a development at 45-20 83rd Street in Elmhurst, Queens is slowly progressing through the public review stage. The application requests zoning map and text amendments to facilitate the construction of The Renaissance Charter School and an abutting residential building at 80-52 47th Avenue.
The school will be developed by Barone Management and is planned to contain 39 classrooms, 5 program rooms, a 6,000 sqft gymnasium, and a 3,000 sqft cafeteria. It will amass over 67,000 sqft, even including a sizable outdoor terrace and a courtyard.
The application was reviewed by the Community Board last month but received an unfavorable vote from the members of Queens Community Board 4. It was then sent to the Borough President who has until November 1st to conduct an evaluation and issue a recommendation to the City Planning Commission.
