Mazza Gallerie Redevelopment Update 07/22/22

First Look at the Transformation Mazza Gallerie

The dated shopping mall directly connected to the Friendship Heights Station is slated for a transformation. Tishman Speyer presented plans on Wednesday as to how the Mazza Gallerie mall development will play out.

The plans call for demolishing the above grade portion of the mall while retaining the retail pavilion and the existing four levels of below-grade parking.

The mall will be transformed into a 7-story, 325-unit apartment project with 25,000 sq. ft. of retail along Wisconsin Avenue. The new design of Mazza will include a striking new facade along Wisconsin Avenue, along with a central atrium for amenity spaces.

The units will range from studios to two-story townhouses to terrace penthouses. The project will have a number of internal courtyards for residents. Approximately 40 of the units, or about 9%, will be inclusionary zoning (IZ).

The project is slated to start demolition this year.
