The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners approved funds for a new affordable housing community near Brandon Town Center that will offer 77 residential units. The board reached a Local Housing Funds Act agreement with Tampa-based Town Center Brandon Development, which is affiliated with developer Blue Sky Communities, to allocate $6.25 million to the project. The funds are from the county’s 2023 affordable housing budget. The development will also receive an addition $17 million from state and federal governments. Of the 77 residences, 39 will be set aside for those making less than 50% of the area median income, the other 38 units will be designated for those making less than 80% of the area median income. The community will rise on land adjacent to Brandon Town Center mall and will be easily accessible to I-75.
