Jamaica Mixed-Use Building Progresses through Public Review
A private application for 185-17 Hillside Avenue in Jamaica, Queens was reviewed today by the City Planning Commission. The application requests zoning map and text amendments to facilitate an 8-story, mixed-use building. At over 66,000 sqft, the new development would contain 48 residential units and almost 4,500 sqft of retail space. Now that the City Planning Commission has voted on the application, it should soon be sent to the City Council. Starting then, the City Council will have up to 50 days to call up the application, hold a hearing, and take a vote. After that, the Mayor's Office will have just 5 days to review the City Council's decision and can either grant the applicant final approval or veto the project altogether.
