Manhattan Life Sciences Hub Struggles in Public Review
The private application submitted by the New York Blood Center to create a Life Sciences Hub in the Upper East Side is currently in public review. It hasn't been all smooth sailing, however, as the project has received unfavorable votes from both Manhattan's Community Board 8, and from the Manhattan Borough President. A public hearing was held on July 29th, and the project is currently waiting on post-hearing follow-up votes. In addition, a final environmental impact statement must be submitted before the City Planning Commission can vote on the matter.
