Map Amendment Filed to Rezone Armed Forces Retirement Home Campus
DC's Office of Planning has filed a Map Amendment to rezone roughly 80 acres of the Armed Forces Retirement Home site. The rezoning would allow for roughly 5 million square feet of development including 3,000 residential units, 1 million square feet of office space, and 300,000 square feet of retail/hotel space. The NCPC has already approved an updated Master Plan for the site.
Per the filing, the development aims to maintain the historic character of the site along with significant existing open space. The project should also provide development uses that are complementary to the Home while maintaining the security of the residents.
