Mixed-Use Development in Ybor City Gains First Approval

 

 

The Tampa City Council voted to approve the rezoning and comprehensive plan amendment for a proposed development surrounding Ybor Channel in Tampa, Ybor Harbor. The votes were the first of two on the development, the second will be held on May 2, 2024. Ybor Harbor would offer up to six million square feet of space which would include 500,000 feet of office space, 4,750 residential units, 10% of which will be designated for affordable housing, 800 hotel rooms and 150,000 square feet of commercial retail space. The 33-acre site, in the south portion of Ybor City on the eastern edge of downtown Tampa, is comprised of 10 parcels. Developer Darryl Shaw has closed on two of the parcels and is in the process of acquiring the other parcels.
