Northeastern Celebrates Ribbon Cutting for New EXP

Northeastern University recently celebrated the grand opening of their new EXP project with an impressive array of university leaders, local and national elected officials, donors, professors, staff, students, and community members gathered in this extraordinary building. For the project’s designers, ribbon cutting ceremonies are exciting events that formally mark the end of an arduous construction process and where we see a project truly come to life.

EXP has 357,000 sf of space with 8 floors above ground serving ground-breaking science and engineering. This state-of-the-art building includes research labs, teaching labs, classrooms, maker space, café, and roof garden. Fronting directly on Columbus Avenue is a dedicated high-bay space to support Northeastern’s innovative work in autonomous vehicles, drones, and humanoid robots. EXP is an exciting and vibrant environment for faculty and students to come together to ideate, innovate and collaborate on theme-based projects that address some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

Sited adjacent to the award-winning ISEC project completed in 2017, EXP completes the precinct between the Columbus and Renaissance parking garages. The two buildings complement each other in support of the University’s academic plan to create a globally networked ecosystem for research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. EXP’s design enables a diverse network of innovators to connect and collaborate, bringing a range of knowledge, experiences, and perspectives to the discovery process.
