Plans for Sarasota Apartment Community Withdrawn
Following legal action, the development of Aventon Sarasota, a proposed 13-building for project to feature 372 residential units, will not move forward. The project had been approved by the Sarasota City Commission; however, the ruling was challenged in court by the Sarasota Airport Authority. The site is adjacent to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport and the airport authority stated that the development violates an agreement with the city that prohibits residential development beneath the 65 decibel day-night average sound level contour. The city commission and airport authority reached a settlement out of court and, subsequently, the developer terminated the contract to purchase the land for the project.
