870 - 888 Atlantic Avenue Update 02/16/22

Zoning Update for 870-888 Atlantic Avenue

A 17-story mixed-use development, proposed for 870-888 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn's Prospect Heights neighborhood is inching closer and closer to approval as it navigates the public review process. Several months ago, Y&T Development LLC, submitted an application to the NYC Department of Planning, which requested zoning map and text amendments as well as a special permit for the project. Since our last update, the City Planning Commission (CPC) successfully voted on the application, which means that it will now be sent to the City Council. Once in their possession, the City Council will have 50 days to hold a hearing and conduct a vote of their own. After that, the application will be sent to the NYC Mayor's Office, where the project will either receive the green light or be vetoed altogether.

The new building is planned to contain  residential units (including 69 affordable housing units) and almost 15,000 square feet of retail. A total of eight separate lots would have to be combined and rezoned if the project is ultimately approved.
