470 Units Planned for Faneuil Gardens Redevelopment in Brighton

The Community Builders and the Boston Housing Authority have filed a Letter of Intent for the redevelopment of Faneuil Gardens in Brighton. The complex, originally built in the late 1940s sits on a 7.5 acre site. The proposed full-site masterplan includes the phased demolition of the existing ten buildings (258 apartments) and the construction of five new buildings comprising approximately 470 new apartments. The masterplan will take place across five phases. Of the total newly constructed units, 258 will replace the existing public housing units with a majority of units to be family-sized,  In addition to housing, the masterplan will include a diverse mix of outdoor spaces, new connections to neighborhood assets, active ground floors including a new community center, site-wide amenities, and potentially small community-oriented retail and artist live/work units. Phase One of the redevelopment will include approximately 110 rental units, 81 of which will be replacement units. A vast majority of units will be family-sized.
