Redevelopment of Tampa Heights YMCA Set to Break Ground in 2025

 

 

The Tampa Coty Council voted to approve a rezoning request for a new mixed-use development in Tampa Heights. The request was filed by Tampa developers Ellison Development, along with Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA. Construction is expected to begin in early 2025. The development will incorporate a redeveloped Central City YMCA. The proposed 1.25 million square foot development would be built on a 6.2-acre site just north of downtown Tampa along North Florida Avenue that includes the current Central City YMCA. The plans call for a new 110,000 square foot YMCA with a rooftop pool, 200 key luxury hotel, 447 multifamily units which include at least 10% affordable housing, 184,000 square feet of office space, 100,000 square feet of retail space, 1,444 parking spaces and 20,000 square feet of green space. The development would include, the new YMCA, a 24-story multifamily building with ground level retail, a 15-story office building, a 23-story hotel building with multifamily units. A sky bridge over Florida Avenue will connect the buildings. Plans are for the new YMCA, which will be constructed across Florida Avenue from the current YMCA, to be completed in two years. The time frame for the entire development is approximately five years.
