Boston Real Estate Collaborative (BREC) was founded in 2010 by Brent Berc, Will Avanessian and Patrick Haydon on the premise that a more collaborative development process, between owner, developer, architect and builder, would result in smarter planning, a more efficient design and construction process and ultimately better projects. Using this approach and marrying the partner’s expertise under one roof, BREC has built a track record of success that has earned it a reputation as one of Boston’s premier, local development companies. In 2012, lacking a property management solution that fit the company’s needs, the next logical step for the partners was to make strategic hires and bring property management in-house with the creation of BREC Management. The management company exclusively manages BREC-owned or affiliated units, including units owned or controlled by BREC’s sister companies STRB and STRB 2. Through its partners and family of companies, BREC owns and operates hundreds of units, including units dedicated to affordable, market-rate and furnished housing. What started in 2010 as a collaboration of good people, has evolved in to a collaboration of great companies.
