Demo Permit Application Filed for South Boston Mixed-Use Project Site A demo permit application has been filed to remove the existing 1 story commercial structure at 218-220 Old Colony Avenue in South Boston. A mixed-use project for this location was approved by the BPDA in March. The new building would include  32-unit residential units, 1,700 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, and a 33 space parking garage.

The 157,000 square foot building will be home to the new Engineering program at Boston College. The building features 343,000 square feet of office space plus 6,000 square feet of retail. The building will be home to the MIT Museum along with tenants including Boeing, Apple, and Capital One.

Winthrop Center

Notice of Project Change Approved for Winthrop Center The BPDA has approved the Notice of Project Change for the Winthrop Center Tower. With work on the site paused after an expected $800M construction loan fell through due to issues surrounding COVID-19, Millennium Partners filed the NPC last month. MP told the board, the changes will cut around $100M in construction costs and the adjustment of the residential units from apartments to condos will help secure the necessary funding. The approved changes include the elimination of the residential portion of the east tower, cutting the number of units from 387 to 321. The total building size will be reduced to 1.447M square feet with the office, and retail/connector space remaining the same.
