First Phase of Gas Worx to Start Construction This Fall

The Tampa City Council gave unanimous full approval to the rezoning request that will pave the way for Gas Worx, the mixed-use development proposed between the Channel District and historic Ybor City.  In August, the plan had been given preliminary approval.  Construction of the first phase, which will include 724 apartments in three buildings, 20,000 square feet of retail space and 940 parking spaces, will begin in Fall 2022. The proposed master planned development would add as many as 5,000 homes, 500,000 square feet of office space and 150,000 square feet of retail space.  The Gas Worx project would connect Tampa’s historic Ybor City with the Channel District and the Water Street development.  Spread out over 50 acres, the development plans also include the redevelopment of a 70,000 square foot warehouse.  The project will be rolled out in stages and includes the demolition of the vacant Tampa Park apartment complex.
