Map Amendment Filed to Rezone Walter Reed Gateway Site
Thomas Development has filed a map amendment seeking to rezone the properties at 6634 & 6640 Georgia Ave. NW. The expectation is that the Map Amendment would allow for increased density—up to 3.6 FAR, allowing approximately 70 or more affordable apartments to be built on the site. Per the filing, the proposal balances the goals and policies of the Rock Creek East Area Element, and more specifically the Upper Georgia Avenue/Walter Reed policy focus area by providing new, high quality market-rate and affordable multi-family housing on Georgia Avenue, NW.
