First Phase of Lawrence Affordable Housing Project Complete
MassDevelopment joined Lawrence CommunityWorks, Inc. yesterday to cut the ribbon on 40 new affordable housing units at Island Parkside and break ground on 40 more. The development team is creating a sustainable, resilient, mixed-use community on the ex-industrial site. The project is being designed for the highest level of energy efficiency, as a Passive House certified project. It will be all-electric (no natural gas) heating and cooling, with photovoltaic panel arrays on the rooftops. The buildings reinforce healthy lifestyles via Fitwell principles of access to fitness and outdoor activities, ample fresh air and views, and excellent indoor air quality.
